Public vehicles get fuel discounts – BusinessWorld Online
SOME OIL firms are offering discounts and promos to drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) and transportation network vehicle service (TNVS) of up to P5 per liter on petroleum products to provide ease to consumers, according to the Department of Energy (DoE).
Following the meetings with retailers of petroleum products, among the oil firms offering such discounts are Petron Corp., Shell Pilipinas Corp., Caltex, and Cleanfuel, according to a Facebook post by the DoE.
Under its Super Driver Card Program, Petron is offering P0.50 to P3 per liter discount for PUVs.
Shell’s Public Transport Discount Program for GO+ members and nonmembers offers up to P5 per liter of discount for PUVs and P2-3 per liter discount for TNVS.
PUVs, through Caltex’s StarDrive program, can avail a reduction of P2.50 on motor gas, P1.50 on diesel, and P10 on lubricant products.
Meanwhile, public utility jeepneys and non-operator taxi drivers could enjoy P1 discount on diesel and P2 on gasoline under Cleanfuel’s Pasada Card, beginning July 1.
Last week, several local oil companies implemented a staggered hike in price hikes to alleviate the impact of the increase on consumers due to the conflict in the Middle East.
For this week, the DoE is expecting a rollback in the prices of petroleum products following the decline in crude oil future due to the possible ceasefire between Israel and Iran as announced by US President Donald J. Trump. — Sheldeen Joy Talavera
